More Than Hair
Cut for a Cause
Every donation is split evenly between cancer research and direct patient care — because both matter.
More Than Hair
My dreads have been part of my identity for many years. They represent patience, intention, creativity, and care.
I’m choosing to shave them to raise funds for people whose lives are changed by cancer every single day.
Cancer demands progress through research, and it demands compassion through care.
This campaign exists to support both.
My Journey…
Like many people, my dreads weren’t an overnight decision. They were grown slowly, deliberately, and with respect — each stage marking a chapter of my life. They’ve been with me through growth, grief, celebration, uncertainty, and becoming. They’ve taught me patience. They’ve asked for care. They’ve reminded me that meaningful things take time.
Working with dreads has shown me just how deeply identity, confidence, and healing are connected. I’ve sat with people during moments of change, vulnerability, and renewal. Dreads are never just hair; they carry stories, culture, memory, and meaning.
Cancer has touched my community in ways that are both visible and quiet. I’ve watched clients navigate treatment, strength, fear, and resilience — and I’ve witnessed firsthand the impact that compassionate, personalised care can have in the middle of it all. I’ve also seen how vital research is in creating better outcomes, better options, and more time.
This is why I’m letting go of something deeply personal. Not as a loss, but as an offering.
I’m shaving my dreads to honour the people who are fighting, the people who are caring, and the people we’ve lost. I’m doing it for my community, for the families standing beside their loved ones, and for a future where both research and care continue to save lives.

Impact
This campaign is built on balance — progress and compassion, research and care.
Shitbox Rally
50% → Cancer Research (Shitbox Rally / Fury Roadsters)
Half of all funds raised will support cancer research through the Shitbox Rally, with our team, the Fury Roadsters, raising money for vital Cancer Council research. Research is how treatments improve, options expand, and futures are protected.
McGrath Foundation
50% → Compassionate Care (McGrath Foundation)
Half of the funds will support the McGrath Foundation, whose nurses provide personalised, practical, and compassionate care to people going through cancer. I’ve witnessed the impact of this care firsthand.
The Details
-
A much‑loved client came in for maintenance, terrified she would lose her dreads during chemotherapy. Its not just her hair, it’s a shield, a source of strength, identity, and dignity, especially when everything else feels uncertain. I think about this moment nearly every day.
My dreads have always made me visible and approachable in my community. Whether volunteering or in everyday life, people often reach out because of them, trusting the person I am behind the dreads. They are more than style, they are strength and presence.
This is why I am shaving my dreads: to honour that strength, to support research and care, and to stand with those whose journeys have touched my heart.

Our Goal
I’m aiming to raise $5,000 to shave my dreads — and I’ll gratefully keep going beyond that.Timeline
Fundraising will run for up to 8 months, leading into our rally in August. I’ll shave my dreads as soon as we reach the $5,000 minimum, with the goal of shaving by late January / early February. -
