Extensions

Our crocheted extensions are created only with a crochet hook. They can be used to extend the length of your dreads and thicken dreadlocks. These can be attached to new dreadlocks as they are being installed or to existing dreads. We use 100% human hair for our permanent extensions, which allows for more natural-looking dreadlocks. However, we do have a variety of woollen extensions in our shop for temporary hair accessories.

The length for best results is 15cm for dreadlocks. If you would like to use hair extensions to incase the length of your dread 10cm of length is recommended.

  • Can you remove dreadlocks?

Yes you can. Dreadlocks can be removed by unpicking and brushing them out. The age, length and type of the locks will depend on how long this process will take.

  • Can I still colour or dye my dreads?

Yes you can. There are many options for changing the colour of your dreads and using your normal colouring products will have the same result as brushable hair. Remember when colouring dreadlocks to pay extra attention when rinsing out the products and using bleach/peroxides can make dreads brittle and weak.

  • Are dreadlocks clean?

Dreadlocks can be washed and is recommended to wash at least once a week depending on your lifestyle. It is recommended to use dreadlock specific products to encourage locking and to prevent a build up of excess product within the dreadlocks. Just like brushable hair, there are so many options for establishing and maintaining your cleansing routine and you will be able to find something that works for you.

  • What method do you use?

We use the crochet method for all our services. This promotes healthy hair and healthy dreads that mature quickly. We don’t recommend interlocking, as this can create weak spots.
